What is Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is an easy to implement, free way that a website owner can make money by putting Google's ads on their site. You just put a few lines of code (generated by Google) where you want the ads to appear, and Google serves up ads based on your text content (hence the name "contextual ads").

What's neat is that your website visitors don't have to buy any products in order for you to generate revenue, as you are merely paid per click on your ads.  For more information please click below:

Google is not the only player with a contextual ad system.  Here are some more programs:

Chitika - Super cool ads! They "interact" with you as you mouseover them!  Can set them up to display based on keywords you input. Primarily shows product ads. Good if you have a website centered around consumer electronics or other customers who might be interested in purchasing such items.

Yahoo Publisher - Higher payouts than Google (in my experience, anyway!). Otherwise, very similar to Google Adsense. They don't have as large an inventory of ads as Google, so they don't always serve relevant ads. But they more than make up for it with a higher payout per click!

Allfeeds.com - Very easy to get accepted and simple admin section. Relatively low payouts.

Miva.com - Stricter approval process but decent payouts.

Kanoodle.com - Another good alternative.
